Goal Planner
Find how much you need to invest monthly (SIP) or as lumpsum to reach your financial goal.
Invest the SIP amount every month for 15 years at 12% p.a. to reach your goal.
Goal Planner
A goal planner works backward from a target corpus to tell you the monthly SIP — or the lumpsum today — needed to reach it by a given date, at an assumed rate of return.
Required monthly SIP = (Target × r) / (((1 + r)^n − 1) × (1 + r)); required lumpsum today = Target / (1 + annual rate)^years.
Input: Target ₹50 lakh in 15 years at 12% annual return
Result: Required SIP ≈ ₹9,850/month, or a lumpsum today of ≈ ₹9.14 lakh
What if I can't invest the required SIP amount?
Try a longer timeline or a higher (but realistic) return assumption — both reduce the required monthly amount, at the cost of more time or more risk.
Can I combine a lumpsum and a SIP toward one goal?
This calculator shows the two paths independently; for a mixed strategy, subtract your available lumpsum's future value from the target, then solve the remaining gap as a SIP.
Goal Planner: how it works
A goal planner reverses the SIP formula: you supply the target amount and horizon, and it returns the monthly contribution needed to reach it.
Formula
P = FV × i / (((1 + i)^n − 1) × (1 + i)), the SIP future-value formula solved for the instalment.
