Brokerage & Charges Calculator
Full cost breakdown of an equity or F&O trade — brokerage, STT, exchange charges, SEBI fee, stamp duty, DP charges and GST — plus the move you need just to break even. Free.
Rates reflect current statutory STT/exchange/SEBI/stamp-duty rates as of this tool's last update — brokers set their own brokerage, and exchange/regulatory rates are revised periodically. Verify against your broker's tariff sheet before relying on this for tax filing.
Same per-trade rate (₹176) at every cadence above — only the trade count changes. Illustrative, based on the round trip computed above; verify against your own contract notes.
Brokerage & Charges Calculator
A brokerage and charges calculator computes the full real cost of an equity trade — brokerage, STT, exchange transaction charges, SEBI turnover fee, stamp duty and GST — beyond just the headline brokerage rate.
Total charges = Brokerage + STT (Securities Transaction Tax) + Exchange Transaction Charges + SEBI Turnover Fee + Stamp Duty + GST (18% on brokerage + exchange charges) — each computed per exchange/segment rules on the trade's turnover.
Input: ₹1,00,000 delivery buy + sell trade, flat ₹20 brokerage per order
Result: Total charges typically run to a small fraction of a percent of turnover for delivery trades — STT is usually the largest single component
Why is STT charged even with a 'zero brokerage' broker?
STT, stamp duty, exchange charges and GST are statutory/exchange levies collected by the broker on behalf of the government and exchanges — they apply regardless of what the broker itself charges.
Are charges different for intraday vs delivery trades?
Yes — STT rates in particular differ meaningfully between intraday (charged only on the sell side) and delivery trades (charged on both buy and sell), which this calculator's segment selection accounts for.
Brokerage Calculator: how it works
A brokerage calculator totals every statutory and broker charge on a trade so you can see the real breakeven, which is materially above the raw price difference.
Formula
Total = brokerage + STT + exchange transaction charges + SEBI turnover fee + stamp duty + DP charges + 18% GST on (brokerage + exchange + SEBI).
